Our Team
Ruth & Wayne
Ruth started her working career as a "kennel girl" at a dog boarding kennels when she was at school. Both Ruth and Wayne went to the Royal Veterinary College, Wayne qualified as a vet in 1986 and Ruth in 1987. In 1990 they bought a veterinary practice in Fife and they spent the next 25 years owning and running their own practices until they "retired" in 2015. Post retirement Ruth has bred 3 litters of spaniel puppies and they have 6 dogs of their own. At Burnside they want every dog and cat to enjoy their holidays in a safe and secure environment so their owners can relax knowing how well they are being cared for.
Kerry
Kerry was brought up with animals (dogs, reptiles and small furries) and started working at a dog kennels from the age of 13. She has now spent 22 years of her life working with cats and dogs. This includes 3 years at a gun dog breeding kennels, 2.5 years with rescue dogs, 4 years at a cat and dog boarding kennels and latterly the last 12.5 years at a dog boarding kennels in Fife (where she met Ruth and Wayne as they boarded their dogs there). She is passionate about all breeds of dogs but especially bull breeds. She has completed courses in canine psychology and behaviour.
Steve
Steve is an animal lover and a very important part of the Burnside team. As well as helping Kerry look after the dogs and cats staying at Burnside he is a qualified tradesman and has the important role of keeping Burnside in tip top condition.
